You’ve got no need to worry when you’re exploring the Cowboy State because we’ve rounded up 13 kid-friendly restaurants the whole gang will appreciate.
1. Rib & Chop House
Locations: Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Laramie, and Sheridan
Montana’s Rib & Chop House is the home of premium steaks, fresh seafood and award-winning baby back ribs. While this might not sound kid-friendly, Rocky Mountain Hospitality is served in a casual atmosphere that makes for a fun place to eat with the kids. Rib & Chop House has 11 locations, including five restaurants in Wyoming in Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Laramie and Sheridan, with more locations in Colorado, Idaho and Utah. This family-friendly restaurant offers a dedicated kids’ menu with delicious options like a kids’ steak, mini corn dogs, mac n cheese, popcorn shrimp, burger sliders and chicken fingers. 2. The Breadboard
Locations: Buffalo, Cody, Lander, and Riverton
Who doesn’t crave a sandwich for breakfast or lunch? When you’re looking for kid-friendly restaurants in Cody, Lander, Riverton or Buffalo, Wyoming, stop at The Breadboard for fast, fresh food from friendly staff. This family-owned restaurant serves yummy sandwiches and soups made with fresh ingredients. For breakfast, stop in for soft, homemade bagels in fun flavors like cinnamon raisin or choose the classic breakfast bagels with eggs, bacon and cheese. Sandwiches feature yummy ingredients on fresh bread baked daily in sizes starting as small as 4” up to 12”. The adventurous can add extras like avocados, artichoke hearts or even ghost pepper cheese. 3. Sweet Melissa’s
Location: Laramie
If your stomach is rumbling after a big day exploring Laramie, Wyoming, yet you have dietary restrictions, make your way to Sweet Melissa Café. This place is like a secret hideout for cool kids who love delicious food. Beyond burgers, this menu offers super exciting stuff like kimchi pancakes (tangy veggie goodness!), and locals go crazy for the decadent lasagna featuring a special ingredient daily and the sweet potato and black bean burrito served grilled and smothered in green chili. Feeling like a familiar friend? They have melty grilled cheese, cheesy quesadillas, and classic peanut butter & honey. But the coolest part? They can make almost any dish vegan (no meat or dairy) or gluten-sensitive if you have allergies — just ask.
4. Little Bear Inn
Location: Cheyenne
Wranglers and cowpokes of all ages will want to feed their hunger at Little Bear Inn, the coolest steakhouse this side of the Mississippi in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It’s a rootin’ tootin’ good time for your tastebuds, guaranteed to be wilder than a Wyoming rodeo. Inside, a stone fireplace adorned with a wagon wheel and taxidermy bears, moose and elk set the ambiance. This fun place to eat with kids makes young’uns feel like real cowboys and cowgirls when they order from this kids’ menu with sirloin steak, gulf fried shrimp, shrimp scampi or catfish options, just like a grown-up! Other kid-friendly favorites include burgers, cheeseburgers, chicken strips, mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. Each dinner is served with a choice of one side dish, including applesauce, fruit cup, rice pilaf, homemade French fries or fresh sautéed vegetables and comes with a fountain drink or iced tea.
5. Broadway Burger
Location: Rock Springs
When you’re ready to ditch the dusty trail mix for a real meal, head over to Broadway Burger Station in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The grooviest diner this side of the jukebox is a locally owned 50s-style diner specializing in burgers and shakes. Kids will go crazy for the Little Darlin’s kids’ menu with meals served in a Hot Rod car. Choose from a hamburger, grilled cheese, corn dog, hot dog or chicken fingers. Each meal comes with fries and a small drink. But hold up! There is a ‘whole lot’a shakin’ goin’ on’ with the milkshake selection. A whopping 31 flavors to choose from make this a must, and for a small upcharge, kids can substitute the small drink for a kid’s shake. Parents can choose from a wide selection of burgers, sandwiches and appetizers that will tempt and tease their taste buds, too.
6. Annie’s Soda Saloon
Location: Cody
After watching a Wild West Shootout Reenactment in Cody, Wyoming, belly up to a real barstool in Annie’s Soda Saloon & Café just like a sheriff (or outlaw!) to get yourself a soda made with pure cane sugar — none of that fancy new-fangled stuff here. After you’ve whet your whistle, place your order for breakfast, lunch, dinner or sweet treats (baked and ice cream varieties). Annie’s grub ain’t just for grown-up cowboys, no ma’am. In fact, this kid-friendly restaurant has a kids’ menu that doubles for senior citizens and includes grilled cheese, grilled Nutella banana, Nutella on toast, PB&J, French toast, shakes, ice cream sodas, sundaes and more, served in an old-timey setting.
7. Hand Fire Pizza
Location: Jackson Hole
After a long day exploring Yellowstone, you can forget campfire beans — Hand Fire Pizza is the coolest pizza joint this side of the Tetons. And you get to eat pizza in a real, live historic movie theater, making it a fun place to eat with the kids. Hand Fire Pizza has super yummy pizzas made with fresh, local ingredients with fun names like the Chew-Baca, Meatbawls, Bison of a Gun and Love Ya Elote. Gown-ups will enjoy the unique ingredients from Wyoming, like bison chili, herbed ricotta cheese and much more. Plus, any pizza can be made gluten-free for your friends with allergies.
8. Pizza Carello
Location: Gillette
Tired of the same old boring pizza back home? Then get ready for a pizza pow-wow at Pizza Carrello, the most unbelievably awesome pizza place in Gillette, Wyoming. This wood-fired pizzeria uses a special wood oven, making each pizza pie extra crispy and delicious. Of course, they have the classics, but if you’re feeling like a real Wyoming explorer, a specialty pizza might be in order. We’re talking Pickle Pizza loaded with tangy ranch dressing and melty cheese, with their own dill pickle dry rub and house-made pickles (seriously, pickles on pizza — how crazy is that?). Maybe the Strawberry Steak Pizza is more your style — it’s topped with garlic-infused olive oil, mozzarella, steak, strawberries, red onion, spinach, house-made dry rub and fresh mozzarella. Pizza Carrello has something to make your tummy do a happy dance and makes for a fun place to eat with the kids.
10. Cowboy Cafe
When you’re in Dubois or Sheridan, you can slay your hunger with classic breakfast favorites, plus avocado toast, eggs benedict, breakfast burritos and skillets made with specialty ingredients like smoked buffalo and spicy elk sausages. If breakfast isn’t your style, don’t worry! Cowboy Café keeps the grub comin’ all day long. 11. Wolf Hotel
Location: Saratoga
For another fun family restaurant, giddy up to The Hotel Wolf in Saratoga, the coolest hotel that just happens to have some of the best burgers this side of the Wild West. Even better, you can experience a real-life Western saloon, just like in the movies, with swinging doors and friendly folks from all over. Kids 12 and under can select from burgers, chicken tenders, corn dog nuggets, grilled ham and cheese, grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, a salad plate or soup and salad, served with a choice of sides: French fries, peaches, cottage cheese or chips. Hearty meals include entrees with flat iron steak, buffalo meatloaf, ribeye steak, and more that parents are sure to appreciate. When you all finish your plate, ask for homemade pie and ice cream to top off the delightful meal.
12. G-ma’s Diner
Location: Casper
When you’re searching for breakfast or lunch in Casper, there’s nothing as comforting as a trip to G-ma’s Diner for the most home-cookin’ good place to eat in Wyoming! Forget fancy restaurants – G-Ma’s Diner is like your grandma’s kitchen but way cooler and a fun place to eat with the kids. They’ve got breakfast fit for a champion all day long, like fluffy pancakes and hearty biscuits and gravy, or maybe you’re craving a super cheesy omelet bursting with yummy fillings. Feeling like a lunchtime legend? Chow down on Rod’s meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, fish and chips and more. No matter what you order, you’re going to love it at G-ma’s Diner.
13. For Pete’s Sake
Location: Evanston
When the sun rises, coffee is calling. Never fear, the kids will be clamoring to stop in For Pete’s Sake. Not only can mom and dad get their favorite lattes or espressos, but the kids can order their favorite drinks, too, with hot chocolate, Italian sodas and boba teas on the menu. Pulse, the whole family can order delicious breakfasts and lunches featuring Black Hills Bagels from Rapid City, South Dakota. These bagels are so delicious the coffee shop was awarded “The Best of Evanston, People’s Choice Award.” If bagels aren’t your jam, choose from other freshly baked goods.
