WHO WE ARE

ALICIA PRYOR, DNA FINANCIAL (3)

Alicia Pryor COO & Darryl J. Pryor CEO

Copa: Tell me a little bit about your company. Who is DNA Financial & Associates?

Alicia:Well, DNA is a family-owned financial services business, vested in the metropolitan District of Columbia area, aiming to transform the financial landscape of our communities one individual, one family, one small business at a time by educating, advising, and coaching everyday people on how to achieve financial security, through the implementation of time-tested and sound financial strategies and principles.

We are guided by our Certified Financial Fiduciary (CFF) standard. It is “The Standard of Excellence” and a commitment, which puts the “Good Faith, Care, and Loyalty to Our Client’s Best Interest” first. Our ongoing DNA mission is to EMPOWER, ENLIGHTEN, and INSPIRE clients by demystifying the complexities of financial planning, to make them better informed and more confident to take stewardship of their financial futures.

Copa: You said “mission”. Sounds like your military influence coming through…

Alicia:Absolutely!!! Both my husband and I are retired Air Force and former DOD civil servants, so having and knowing our mission is critical to success--ours and our client’s. So yes, our mission is to remove the complexity of financial planning by providing coaching, mentorship, accountability, and a "let's get it done" mindset, which we gained through years of self-less service. This servant, mission-focused mindset is found throughout our enterprise.

Copa: It seems you are certainly committed to serving your clients. Who does DNA serve or who is your typical client?

Alicia:That is a great question and not one easily answered. Our clients come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and status. They include, but are not limited to, servant leaders, such as military, law enforcement, fire & rescue, etc., businessowners, and professionals, to include doctors and lawyers. We serve nearly as many clients in their late 20’s to mid-30’s, as we do those in their late 50’s to mid-60’s.

While many financial coaches and planners focus primarily on the high-end, high net worth clientele, and we do also, we’re particularly focused on the everyday individual. You may know someone like him or her. They are the average, hard-working person(s), who earns significant money, but has not learned how to make their money work and grow for them to become financially secure. It is our experience, that lack of financial literacy impacts a wide spectrum of income earners.

We find that regardless of economic status, everyone is not having a financial conversation at the dinner table. This is why we believe it is so important we level the playing field and ensure that all have the opportunity for financial success.

Copa: Wow, it sounds like you have a very diverse clientele and nearly anyone can be your client. Is this correct?

Alicia:Well, that is mostly correct. We do have a very diverse clientele, but not everyone can be our client. Quite often we turn down clients or gently release them from our services.A client must have the right mindset and recognize the value of our services.

You see, at DNA Financial and Associates we recognize, just as everyone’s DNA is unique, so, too, are their goals, passions, and struggles (GPS). There is no cookie-cutter, one-size fits all approach. As a fiduciary, no matter where our clients are in life—family, young professional, business owner, seasoned professional, pre-retirement or retired—we put their GPS first. As holistic financial, insurance and tax strategists, we work with them to tailor a pragmatic strategy that fits their overall needs and financial well-being.Our main product and service is knowledge. We specialize in educating and coaching our clients on a wide array of financial topics, products, and services. We teach them to become FINANCIALLY secure, responsibly INSURED and TAX wise (FIT). Again, not everyone has the right mindset.

Copa: If I am a client considering your services, why should I choose you? What makes DNA Financial & Associates different?

Alicia:Quite simply, OUR PROCESS. It’s about “YOUR GOALS and our strategies.” The emphasize is onYOUR GOALS. It’s all about empowering YOU. We foster a consultative relationship with all our clients. As your fiduciary, we put you in a position to make you informed, so you can confidently navigate your journey towards financial security.

While most firms won't talk to you unless you have $250K to 1 million in assets, or earn $200K in annual income, we believe our clients’ most valuable asset is knowledge. As a key member of your coaching and advisory team, we travel with you along your personal and/or business financial well-being journey. Our best clients are those who recognize that successful financial and tax planning are the result of years’ worth of discussions and planning sessions. They are willing to go through the process.

Our team and partners will work with you to learn more about your personal GPS. However, you must be an active player and not just a pawn. Our goal is to help you become someone who thinks several moves ahead, rather than simply react to the financial Game of Life as it happens to you.

No matter what your phase of life, we continually require you to answer some basic questions about what financial security looks like to you. For example, what is the best way to:
a. Take care of myself or my family financially?
b. Grow my money?
c. Protect my money?
d. Plan for retirement?
e, Be smart with my money?
f. Prepare myself financially for emergencies or serious illness?
g. Save for the future other than 401 (k)s, TSPs, or IRAs?

Ultimately, we challenge you to ask yourself, “Am I a player or pawn?”
