Here are some timing graphs for our Jackson and West Tennessee from the NWS in Memphis. This should give you a general idea of most likely timing for each severe threat (wind = blue line, hail = green dashed line, tornado = red line). Unfortunately, these are the ONLY cities in our area we have these graphics for (they are produced by SPC).

The peaks are all after sunset so make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings that can WAKE YOU UP like the WBBJ Storm Team weather apo. It’s free and you can download it at the App store.

A tornado watch has now been issued for our northern counties in West TN north of I40 until 11pm tonight. According to the NWS, this is a particularly dangerous situation. PDS watches are very rare. Please stay weather aware later this evening and tonight. A flood watch remains in effect for all of West Tennessee until 7am Monday morning. The ground is saturated, plus many creek, rivers and streams are already running high so any additional rainfall could lead to flash flooding quickly around the Mid South tonight.

SUNDAY/SUNDAY NIGHT:

Highs were in the mid to upper 80s this weekend with morning lows in the upper 60s this weekend. The winds are forecast to have a southerly component to them all weekend long as well. Outdoor plans Sunday night into Monday morning might need to be cancelled as severe storms seem more likely than not as of now with that line of storms.

There were three rounds of storms on Sunday. One early Sunday morning, one late morning and another one late Sunday night lingering into Monday morning.

NEXT WEEK:

We are expecting the severe weather and storms to move out for our Memorial Day and the beginning of next week. Temperatures are going to be cooler behind Sunday night’s cold front. We should see plenty of sunshine starting on Memorial Day and continuing into the first half of next week. Highs on Monday will reach the low 80s, but mid 70s are possible for both Tuesday and Wednesday from the northwest winds behind the front. We are expected a dry start to the work week as well, at least through Wednesday. Morning lows may even fall back down to the 50s for both Monday and Tuesday night’s next week.

FINAL THOUGHT:

The weather was quite wet at times for our holiday weekend in West Tennessee and a storm and flood threat will continue tonight. A few rounds of severe weather popped earlier on Sunday and the main event is on the way tonight. Temperatures stayed above normal all weekend and the humidity was a factor the entire weekend as well. If you are looking for a dry weather, you might have to wait until Memorial day morning and for the first half of next week. We will be tracking the storms all night in the 7 Storm Team Weather Center and you need to monitor the forecast as well because these are expected to be some big storms.
